N.E.W. Health & Wellness Resource Directory
Kane Health Counts is seeking input from service providers to create a county-wide health and wellness resource directory
The Kane Health Counts coalition is leading an effort to improve awareness of, and access to, health and wellness resources available in Kane County. The Nutrition, Education, and Weight (N.E.W.) Action Team is working to develop a comprehensive resource directory that will include information on program services offered throughout the county.
To build this directory, the Action Team is asking health and wellness service providers to complete this survey to share information on the types of programs they offer to patients and clients. This information will provide valuable input to the directory which will be featured in print as well as on the website: LiveWellKaneCounty.com. The goal of this project is to reduce gaps in resources and raise awareness of low-cost or free programming in Kane County.
Kane Health Counts is a collaboration of county hospitals, the Kane County Health Department, and community partners. The N.E.W. Action Team was formed in response to the most recently completed Community Health Assessment, which identified Nutrition, Exercise and Weight Management as a significant health priority in Kane County.
The survey will remain open until April 1, 2022.

Please share this invitation with health service organizations in your community. Any questions about the resource directory or the Action Team can be directed to Stacy Zeng, Kane County Health Planner.

CMAP Bike & Pedestrian Planning Resources
Case studies provide guidance to communities
A bicycle and pedestrian plan identifies policies and projects that create a comprehensive, safe, and connected non-motorized transportation network. Although establishing a bicycle and pedestrian plan is a critical first step, implementation must follow.
The communities of Arlington Heights and Park Forest demonstrate two approaches to adopting bicycle and pedestrian-friendly policies and building infrastructure.
Click here to view the case studies.
Bicycle and pedestrian plans can foster healthy, sustainable, and vibrant communities. They also can help improve equity.
In a recent report, CMAP detailed how transportation fees, fines, and fares impact residents with low income and people of color — and recommended policy changes to improve equity.
CMAP's recent report can be found here.
